What's the difference between a branded system OEM, a contract OEM/ODM and a brand owner?
A branded system OEM builds complete printer systems under its own name. A contract OEM/ODM manufactures machines that other companies sell under their own brands. A brand owner sells under its own name without necessarily building the machine, and a system integrator assembles a system from other suppliers' parts. It matters because parts, firmware and warranty claims usually lead back to whoever actually built the machine.
How reliable is an entry, and does a listing mean Printing TLDR recommends the supplier?
High confidence means an entry is confirmed via two or more independent sources. Everything else is a lead to verify, and entries marked Claimed Factory or Unverified Candidate in particular shouldn't be treated as confirmed manufacturers. Classifications are a conservative reading of each listing, not independent verification, and a listing isn't an endorsement. Printing TLDR has no vendor affiliations, takes no sponsored placements and sells no equipment. Check capabilities, certifications and current status with the supplier before you order.
Where are the listed companies based?
Worldwide, with many entries in China because the first dataset started there and a large share of DTF printer manufacturing is concentrated in Chinese hubs. Companies in Japan, the USA and Europe are listed too, and coverage is being expanded region by region. A company missing from the directory isn't a verdict on it. If you run a manufacturer, brand or supplier elsewhere, you can ask to be added.
How do I read the hub and cluster data?
Hub data shows where listed companies concentrate geographically. A supplier inside a large cluster usually has local access to printhead, board, ink and film vendors, which affects lead times and spare parts. Entries marked Global / Region Unclassified don't sit in one manufacturing cluster. Use the hub data to judge how practical a sample order or factory visit is, and to see when several brands come from the same area.
What should I check before buying from a supplier in the directory?
Start with the due diligence tools on this page, then verify the machine itself: printhead origin and paperwork, mainboard and software architecture, white ink circulation, RIP software support, and CE or export compliance documents. Ask for sample prints on your own film and powder, a customer reference you can contact, and a clear answer on who supplies spare parts after the sale.
Can the same printer be sold under different brand names?
Yes, and it's common. One OEM platform can appear under several brand names with different covers, printheads or software bundles. Ask the seller who manufactures the machine, which printheads and mainboard it uses, and whether the factory will confirm that in writing. Classifications such as Contract OEM/ODM Manufacturer and Brand Owner help separate the brand on the cover from the factory behind it, but confirm who builds the machine before you order.

For corrections to a classification or confidence level, include a datasheet, official page or other source that supports the change.
