Direct answer
The DTF Chemical Compliance Kit is a 15-page PDF and an Excel tracking sheet for print shops that sell decorated apparel into the EU now that REACH Entry 79 applies to clothing, since 10 October 2026. It contains ready-to-send supplier queries, a six-level rule for what you may tell customers based on the evidence you hold, answer text for customer questionnaires, and a record-keeping sheet. It does not test your products or decide compliance. Nobody has published a PFHxA test of a DTF ink or transfer.
Why does a DTF shop need a compliance kit?
Because Entry 79 caps PFHxA and its salts at 25 ppb in clothing placed on the EU market, and the OEKO-TEX certificate most ink suppliers hold screens total fluorine at 50 mg/kg, which is 2,000 times looser. Nobody can yet say whether a given DTF product passes. What you can do is ask your suppliers in writing, keep every reply, and avoid claiming more than the file supports.
The free field report on REACH Entry 79 and DTF is the diagnosis. The kit is the working tool you use after you have read it.
What is in the DTF Chemical Compliance Kit?
Ten ready-to-use documents in the PDF, in six parts, plus the Excel sheet that holds your record.
Supplier query pack
Six documents: the five-question query for ink, film and powder suppliers, a separate query for blank garment suppliers, reminders at day 14 and day 30, and replies to a certificate-only answer and to “we are checking”.
Reading the replies
For each question, a table of what the supplier wrote, what it tells you, what it does not, and your next step. Includes a checklist for a total fluorine result and for a PFHxA report before you file it.
The claim ladder
Six levels, from not asked to PFHxA analysis in hand. Each level sets what you may tell a customer and what you may not, with attributed, dated wording.
Customer questionnaire answers
A core statement in three variants, an answer bank for the questions brands ask, a response for a workwear or contract customer, and a short reply for a retail buyer.
The file you keep
What to store, how to name it, when to re-open a row, when testing is worth commissioning, and what to put in a laboratory request.
Excel tracking sheet
One row per product code: query date, reminders due, reply, certificate, results and claim level. Reminder dates and next actions calculate for you. A Units tab converts mg/kg, ppm and ppb and checks a laboratory’s reporting limit against 25 ppb.
What can you tell a customer? A preview of the claim ladder
Every product code sits at one level, set by the best written evidence you hold. The level decides what you may say. This preview shows the limits at each level. The kit gives the wording.
| Level | Name | What you hold | One thing you may not say |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | Not asked | Nothing | Anything about the product’s PFHxA status |
| 1 | Asked, no reply | A dated copy of your query | Anything about composition |
| 2 | Replied, not answered | A certificate, “REACH compliant” or “we are checking” | Compliant, safe or certified |
| 3 | Written statement | The supplier’s written statement for your product code, no data | Tested, or below the limit |
| 4 | Statement plus total fluorine | Level 3 plus a total fluorine result with date and method | Below the Entry 79 limit |
| 5 | PFHxA analysis | A report for your product code with reporting limit, method and date | That the decorated garment complies |
“PFAS-free” is repeated only when a supplier has written that exact claim for the specific product code, and then it is attributed and dated.
Who should buy the DTF Chemical Compliance Kit?
Shops that sell decorated apparel into the EU and expect a customer to ask for a restricted-substances answer: brand work, workwear contracts, anything sold into a chain with a compliance department.
A shop doing club kit and event tees for local customers carries a risk the free report calls theoretical. For that shop, the free report and its five-question supplier query may be all you need.
What does the kit not do?
- It is not legal advice, and where a point depends on legal interpretation it says so and leaves it open.
- It does not test your products or tell you they comply with Entry 79.
- It makes no claim the free report does not support. No PFHxA result for a DTF ink or transfer has been published, and the kit is written around that gap.
- It reflects the regulatory position in the free report, current to October 2026. No update period is promised.

Frequently asked questions
What do I receive?
A 15-page PDF and an Excel tracking sheet, delivered as downloads after payment and available again from My Account. The PDF has ten ready-to-use documents: six supplier documents and four customer documents.
Does the kit tell me whether my DTF ink complies with REACH Entry 79?
No. Nobody has published a PFHxA test of a DTF ink or transfer, and the kit does not claim to know the answer. It helps you ask suppliers in writing, judge what comes back, and record what you hold, so you can answer customers without claiming more than you can show.
I already have the free PFAS report. What does the kit add?
The free report gives the diagnosis and the five supplier questions, and the kit does not charge for them. The kit adds what comes after you send them: follow-ups for suppliers who do not reply, a way to read the answers, a six-level rule for what you may tell customers, answer text for questionnaires, and a tracking sheet.
Which suppliers does the kit cover?
Ink, film and powder suppliers, and blank garment suppliers. You send one query per product code, and the tracking sheet holds one row for each.
Can I tell customers my prints are PFAS-free?
Only if a supplier has put that claim in writing for the specific product code, and even then you attribute it to the supplier and date it. The kit includes the wording. A statement about PFHxA is not a statement about all PFAS, and a statement about an ink says nothing about the blank garment.
Is this legal advice?
No. Kjell Karlsson is not a regulatory lawyer. Where a point depends on legal interpretation, the kit says so and does not resolve it. Check anything contract-critical with your own adviser and against the published regulation text.
Will the kit be updated?
The kit is version 1.0, dated October 2026, and reflects the regulatory position in the free field report as of that date. No update period is promised, so check contract-critical points against the published regulation.
